The White-vented Euphonia lives in humid tropical forest and nearby vegetation. Males have a dark throat and yellow belly, while females are olive above; the birds mainly search for fruit in the canopy.
Males have blue-black upperparts and a yellow forehead, with yellow underparts and white on the middle belly and undertail. Females are olive above, with a grayish-white throat and a pale lower belly.
It feeds mainly on fruit, especially mistletoe berries, and also takes some insects. It forages in the canopy and may be seen alone, in pairs, or in groups that include birds with female-like plumage.
It builds a spherical nest with a small circular entrance.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
