The Tourmaline Sunangel is a small hummingbird of the Andes. Males have glossy green plumage and a violet-blue throat, and the birds feed on nectar and insects.
Males are glossy green with iridescent blue and reddish-violet on the throat. Females have a whitish throat and a shorter, less forked tail than males.
Nectar is its main food. It may hover at a flower with its wings held out while feeding, and also catches insects in flight or from plants.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
