A bulbul of western and central African forests. It eats fruit and other plant food and occurs in raffia-palm stands and damp forest near water.
Plumage varies geographically. Compared with Upper Guinea specimens, the Cameroon series averaged yellower underparts, a less gray chest, and more olive upperparts.
It eats fruit and other plant matter and is associated with wet forest, including areas with raffia palms and sites near water.
Its diet includes figs.
Among Cameroon specimens, wing length was 111–117 mm in ten males and 105–112 mm in ten females.
