This small bird is recorded in the eastern Amazon. A specimen comparison found more black on the outer tail feathers, and at Paragominas it was observed feeding in the canopy while following mixed-species flocks.
Specimens called “paraensis” in a 2005 comparison were the palest form compared. The outer tail feathers had more black, while the presence of small white tips varied among specimens.
In a 2012 survey at Paragominas, the birds were found following mixed-species flocks. One pair fed in the canopy of an emergent tree and descended to about 20 m after playback.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
