The Itjaritjari, or central desert marsupial mole, lives underground among inland Australian sand dunes. It is rarely seen at the surface.
It has a long, tubular body, no visible eyes or external ear flaps, and large digging claws. Its dense fur ranges from golden brown to pale cream.
It spends almost all its time underground, moving through loose sand, and eats ants, termites and beetle larvae.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
