This squirrel has dark, soft fur and a long ringed tail. In West Africa, it is recorded in rainforest and forests within forest–savanna mosaics.
Its long, soft coat is dark brown with buff flecking on the back and sides, and gray underneath. The slender tail has alternating dark and pale rings.
Records include primary and secondary rainforest as well as remnant forest within a forest–savanna mosaic. The account provides little information on behavior.
