The body is flattened and rotund. The head is short and broad. The dorsal skin is rough to rugose, with converging longitudinal rows of tubercles. At Sahaindrana in Betampona, one frog was found walking on leaf litter at about 6 am. At Sahabefoza, two were found at 10:40 am under wet leaf litter and rotten logs in almost-closed-canopy humid forest. Specimens are confirmed from Betampona Strict Nature Reserve, eastern Madagascar. Identifiable photographs taken in 2022 also confirm nearby Ampasina.
