This large Malagasy nesomyid is recorded from humid forests in the north. A field report describes it as nocturnal and using tree cavities for shelter.
A published literature value gives a head-and-body length of 228 mm. The comparative study lacked enough specimens of this species and took the value from an earlier source.
It is nocturnal and arboreal, sheltering in holes or hollows in tree trunks.
It has been captured in Andriakanala forest, which lies at 1,590–1,730 m elevation.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
