This nectar-feeding bat occurs in the Andes. A 2019 study in the La Paz Valley found pollen and fecal evidence suggesting that it feeds on 14 locally native or cultivated plant species. That evidence comes from one Bolivian valley.
A 2010 systematic study, then treating these specimens as Anoura geoffroyi peruana, describes their coat as darker than lowland A. geoffroyi, ranging from deep brown to black.
Researchers in the La Paz Valley captured bats in three types of area and analyzed pollen and fecal samples. Their results suggest that the bats may use 14 native and cultivated plant species there.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
