This wren is now confined to small offshore islands in the Falklands. It searches for small animals in grassland near the tide line and on rocky shores.
The upperparts are dusky brown and the underparts slightly paler, without distinctive markings. It sometimes holds its short tail cocked over its back.
It uses dense, ungrazed tussock grass just above the high-tide line and forages onto the beach, where it often feeds on invertebrates in the littoral zone of rocky shores.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
