This crab is known from Danum Valley, Sabah, Malaysia.
In the male holotype, the carapace is wider than long, with prominent transverse lines in its central gastric regions.
The examined specimens were collected under rocks in a clear, flowing, shaded forest stream, among other records.
In adult males, dense short hairs cover most of the upper and lateral surfaces of the movable chela finger. Males with a carapace width below 15 mm lack these hairs.
In the male holotype, the third pair of walking legs is the longest and the fourth is the shortest.
