Long, soft fur hides its small ears. This vole burrows in Himalayan moist forest and grassy slopes, where it feeds on plants.
The fur is soft and velvety, dark brown above and grayish underneath. Its ears are small and rounded, almost concealed by the long body fur.
It excavates networks of shallow tunnels as well as deeper tunnels that descend nearly vertically. The account describes it as exclusively herbivorous.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
