In Bolivia, this ground-dwelling bird is found along montane-forest edges and in tall scrub. It occurs alone or in pairs and skulks in dense vegetation near the ground.
Its crown and upperparts are olive-colored, with a pale eyebrow above a black facial mask. The throat is buff, a black crescent crosses the breast, and the underparts are rufous.
The Bolivia account places it along dry to semi-humid montane-forest edges, in Polylepis woodland and tall scrub, mostly below 3,250 m. It skulks alone or in pairs close to the ground and is more often heard than seen.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
