The Ceara Gnateater is a small bird of northeastern Brazil. It was first described as a subspecies of Conopophaga lineata, then treated as a separate species following genetic research.
It is 11.5–14 cm long. Males have deeper chestnut on the crown, neck, breast, and flanks, a stronger white eyebrow, and a gray bare face. The bright postocular tuft is white in males and gray or rufous in females.
It eats small arthropods and forages alone or in pairs near the forest floor, often from vertical perches inside forest or along its edges. It nests close to the ground or low above it.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
