The single-striped lemniscomys is a grassland mouse with one dark line along its back. A southern African assessment reports that it uses places with tall grass cover.
Its coat ranges from pale gray to brown, with one dark midline stripe. The tail is long, thin, and sparsely haired.
In southern Africa, it tends to eat the most abundant grass in a habitat. It favors tall grass cover and leaves recently burned sites, returning when the grass has recovered.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
