This stocky rodent is known from Sibuyan Island in the Philippines. Only one specimen is documented, and field information is limited.
The back is blackish brown, with a yellowish-gray stripe from the forehead between the eyes to near the tail base. It has a stocky build and relatively short tail.
The holotype was caught at 1,325 m in a tunnel-like runway of bamboo leaves on the ground, in a transition between montane and mossy forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
