This mouse lives on the eastern Andean slopes of southern Peru and northern Bolivia. It has been recorded in cloud and upper montane forests, using runways beneath mossy roots and ferns.
The back is gray-black, the sides are paler, and the underside is gray-brown to buff. The account also describes a white tail tip.
