The Aba leaf-nosed bat is recorded across equatorial Africa in savanna, dry forest, and cleared rainforest landscapes.
Its fur is short and fine, dark brown above and paler below. An orange or rusty-brown form is also recorded.
It inhabits Guinea savanna, derived savanna, dry forest, and recently cleared rainforest, and apparently avoids intact rainforest. By day it roosts in caves, under boulders, or in mammal burrows; records range from small groups to colonies of several hundred.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
