The sandhill dunnart is a marsupial of arid Australia. Its back is gray to buff, its underside is white, and its tail has stiff black hairs near the tip. It has been recorded in patches of vegetation on sand dunes and sandplains.
The back is drab gray to buff and the underside is white, with darker hair nearer the skin. It has large eyes and ears; the tail is pale above, dark gray below, and bears a crest of stiff black hairs on its lower surface near the tip.
Records come from swales between dunes, sandplains, and dune slopes with patches of long-unburnt vegetation. The recovery plan describes members of Sminthopsis as nocturnal and predominantly insectivorous.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
