Both sexes are vivid red with a gray or silver cheek patch. This warbler lives in the mountains of southern and western Mexico.
Males and females share red plumage and a contrasting gray-to-silver cheek patch.
It forages actively for insects and often preens. It nests at the edges of high-elevation pine, oak, and fir forest, then moves to lower-elevation oak woodland after breeding.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
