This klipspringer was described from southern Tanzania in 1899. The described specimen had rust-yellow and black speckling on its head and upper parts.
Noack described the specimen’s crown as rust-yellow and black-speckled, with a black mark between the ears continuing backward as a stripe. The upper parts were similarly speckled, while the chest and inner hind legs were whitish. The collector reported the male as hornless.
The field note accompanying Noack’s description says that it lives in rocky areas.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
