Gray Vireos breed in dry scrub of the southwestern United States. Many winter in Mexico and use similar scrub as well as desert stream areas.
Adults are small, round-headed and gray overall, with off-white underparts, a thin white eyering and a faint wingbar. The wings and tail are the darkest gray areas.
It moves through dense vegetation and gleans mostly insects from leaves and twigs. Some populations in southern Arizona and adjacent Mexico eat mostly small fruit in winter.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
