A shrew described from Costa Rica's Tilarán highlands. The only specimen reported in its original account was a female from Monteverde.
In the single described specimen, The described specimen was larger than other Costa Rican shrews and had a long tail. Its underside was almost as dark as its back.
The only known specimen was found in lower montane wet forest in Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The paper reports no records from elsewhere.
