The Screaming Piha inhabits humid Amazonian forest and searches the canopy for fruit and small prey. In eastern Ecuador it is recorded in lowlands and locally into the foothills.
It is gray above, paler on the rump, with browner wings and tail. The underparts are pale gray, the chest slightly darker, and the inside of the mouth bright orange.
It eats fruit and invertebrates, taking fruit in short flights through the canopy and subcanopy. Males give loud calls from display sites in the middle forest layer.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
