The New Caledonian Island Thrush occurs on islands of New Caledonia. A study examined birds rediscovered on Néba and Yandé in 1978, then classified as subspecies xanthopus.
Adults have a dark-brown crown, lighter-brown head, greenish-brown back and wing coverts, reddish-brown breast and belly, and a yellow-orange bill and eye-ring.
On the ground it uses its bill to flip aside leaves while searching for invertebrates; it also eats fruit.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
