This small bird lives in grassland and scrub in southeastern Australia. It feeds on the ground on grass seeds and insects, and has a gray back, white underside, and red rump.
Its grayish back and white underside contrast with a red rump. White spots mark the black band across the neck and flanks.
It uses grassy woodland, heath, and grassy farmland, where it walks on the ground to take seeds and also eats insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
