It occurs on the eastern Andean slopes of Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, in moist lowland and foothill forest and at forest edges. Ecuadorian records extend to about 1,500 m.
It is about 11–13 cm long. The sexes are similar, with moss-green upperparts, an olive-yellow breast, a pale yellow belly, and a long grey tail; the eyes and legs are grey.
Fruit is thought to make up most of its diet, and it also eats insects. The species profile says detailed dietary records are limited.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
