The Yellow-crowned Bishop is a small bird of grasslands and wetlands in sub-Saharan Africa. It mainly eats seeds, and breeding males puff out yellow back feathers and call.
Breeding males attract females by puffing out their yellow back feathers and calling.
It eats seeds from the ground or plants and sometimes forages in mixed flocks with widowbirds, other bishops, or queleas. The male builds a ball-shaped nest woven from grass, usually suspended between stems over water.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
