The velvety myotis is a South American bat with short, dense reddish fur. It searches for insects soon after sunset and roosts in tree holes, caves, and other sheltered places.
The back has short, woolly fur that is orange to cinnamon-colored. The belly hairs have yellow tips, and the uropatagium is naked.
It eats insects. In Bolivia, foraging is especially active during the first four hours after sunset, and roosts include tree holes, caves, and thatched roofs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
