The Black-browed Barbet has red, blue, and yellow markings on the head and a black brow-like stripe. It forages in the canopy and mid-level branches, and accounts differ on the details of its diet.
Red marks the forehead, facial sides, and nape; the golden throat has a blue border. A black stripe crosses above and below the eye, with blue around the ear. The amount and placement of red and blue vary across regional forms.
It uses lower montane evergreen forest, pine stands, and orchards, foraging in the canopy and subcanopy. Fruit is part of its diet, but sources differ on whether it also regularly eats insects, so its full diet remains uncertain.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
