A thrush of the mountains of Costa Rica and far western Panama. Males are dark brown, with yellow bill and eye-ring, and search among leaf litter for prey.
The male is brownish black, with black wings and tail and a yellow-to-orange bill and bare eye-ring. The female is browner and paler.
It turns leaf litter to find insects and spiders, and also eats small fruits.
