The Dulzura kangaroo rat ranges from coastal southern California to southern Baja California Sur, Mexico. Reported populations differ in body size across regions and habitats.
In the populations compared, animals from the warm, arid south were larger than animals from cooler, moister northern regions.
The study compared populations across vegetation communities, including montane conifer forest, chaparral, grassland, and coastal scrub. Body-size patterns also differed among some habitats.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
