The large-eared tenrec is a tiny, big-eared mammal of southern and southwestern Madagascar that uses sound to find termites.
It has very short, soft fur, a hair-covered tail and large ears. The back ranges from light gray to light reddish brown, with a buff-white underside.
It is nocturnal with poor eyesight and relies on hearing and smell to find termites. It may enter daily torpor inside fallen logs or cavities in sand.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
