This hummingbird is endemic to Honduras, where it lives in dry interior valleys with scrub and thorn forest. It feeds on flower nectar as well as insects and spiders.
Males have an iridescent blue-green throat and upper chest with a green back. The bill is black and slightly down-curved; female colors are less brilliant.
The shape of its bill is linked to taking nectar from flowers in its habitat. Its diet also includes insects and spiders.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
