This shrew has dark gray fur on both its back and underside, and a tail longer than its body. It has been recorded in mountain broadleaf forests in China.
The dorsal and ventral fur is generally dark gray. Its tail is 112–133% of head-and-body length, covered in short hair, and naked at the tip.
Most captured individuals in the study came from mid-montane broadleaf forest at 2,000–3,000 m elevation; one was captured at 900 m.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
