Yuchi Music Frog
Nidirana shyhhuangi
Nidirana shyhhuangi is a small frog recorded at two sites in central Taiwan. Live adult body length from the tip of the snout to the base of the tail is about 3.2–4.0 cm in males and 3.5–4.1 cm in females.[2]
Appearance
The body is slender. The back ranges from brown to yellowish brown and may be gray, with a pale line along the spine; dark crossbands mark the thighs and shanks.[2]
Life
The breeding season runs from April through late September. Males dig mud nests in soil slopes near water and call from inside them. Eggs hatch in the nests; tadpoles remain there for a time before rain or rising water carries them into nearby streams or ponds.[2]
