The Village Weaver is a bird whose breeding males split leaves and bark into strips and weave hanging nests. It occurs across Africa outside desert regions.
Breeding males are conspicuously yellow and black, with a scaly pattern on the back. Females are pale yellow-green year-round, and males take on similar colours after breeding.
During breeding, males weave downward-hanging nests and display beneath them to attract females. They eat seeds and insects, with insects making up a larger share during nesting.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
