This flycatcher occurs in the highlands of Costa Rica and far western Panama. It has a yellow-brown back, yellow belly, and pale wing bars, and catches flying insects from a perch.
The upperparts are yellow-brown, the belly is yellow, and the wings show two buff bars.
It uses edges and openings in montane evergreen forest at about 2,100–3,000 m, sallying from a perch to catch aerial invertebrates.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
