Cephalophus curticeps is a duiker recorded in southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and western Kenya. Its dark brown coat has a golden back triangle that narrows towards the head and ends at the hip, with small gold spots behind it.
Its coat is blackish brown. A golden to dark golden-brown triangle on the back is narrowest towards the head and ends abruptly at the hip. It is narrower and darker than in C. silvicultor. Small gold spots behind the triangle are consistently present. The sides of the neck and cheeks are paler, and the prominent crown tuft is often reddish. Horns occur in both sexes.
It occurs in montane forests and bamboo stands, as well as some protected forests at lower elevations. HMW reports two observations of foraging individuals in Burundi between 08:25 and 09:15. These two records do not establish the species’ general activity schedule.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
