This shrew has slate-gray fur, a slender body, and a rope-like tail. Tennessee records describe it using rocky crevices in mountain forests.
It has a long, pointed snout and tiny black eyes. Its sparsely haired tail is slightly darker above and has a thick, rope-like appearance.
It mainly eats small invertebrates such as centipedes, beetles, and spiders. The Tennessee account says it spends much of its time in deep rock crevices about 30 cm below the surface.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
