A rat from Sulawesi, it has a yellowish tail and long coarse guard hairs. It is reported to eat fruit.
Long, coarse hairs project from the back, whose color ranges from yellow-gray to brown. About the first third of the tail is black, with yellow farther toward the tip.
It is primarily frugivorous. It is thought to be nocturnal and to use both the ground and trees, but the source presents these behaviors as probable.
