The white-lipped peccary looks like a pig but belongs to a different family. It searches for food in groups.
When excited, the hair on its upper back can rise into a crest-like shape.
In Belize, it forages in herds and spends time feeding and travelling. Peccaries use the scent from a gland on the rump to recognize group members, and they also communicate with calls.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
