The Buchara Shrew is recorded from the Peter the First Range in northern Tajikistan. A 1965 guide notes one specimen from 1911 and 18 collected in 1954.
The guide describes it as medium-sized, with a hind-foot length of 11.3–12 mm. It also identifies the larger third upper intermediate tooth as a distinguishing feature.
Collection sites included high-elevation birch and poplar woods, and less often juniper woods, on gorge slopes. Young animals, a lactating female, and a female with seven embryos were recorded in July and August.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
