The Polynesian Ground Dove is a ground-dwelling pigeon of the Tuamotu Islands. It hides in dense cover and bursts out with loud wingbeats when disturbed.
The male has white on the front of the head, throat, and chest, with burgundy feathers over the nape and shoulders. The female is brown above with a yellowish-buff throat and chest.
It scratches the ground for seeds and also climbs trees and shrubs to take fruits, leaves, and seeds.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
