The African Green Pigeon is a green fruit-eating pigeon that feeds in trees. This entry uses the West African portion of the Oiseaux.net range because that account also discusses the former broad treatment with T. delalandii.
Adult males are mainly green, with a greyish head and neck, a purplish-grey shoulder patch, and yellow-edged wing feathers. Females are smaller and duller.
It feeds on fruit in trees and may hang upside down to reach it. It can also descend to take fallen fruit or grit.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
