This small rodent inhabits the dry coastal plains of Peru. Records place it in scattered moist vegetation near rivers and lagoons and at the edges of small wetlands.
The back is clay to buff in color, the underside is creamy, and the tail is brown above and white below.
It eats insects and seeds. It is associated with localized moist vegetation near rivers and lagoons and with the edges of small swamps or irrigation ditches, rather than gallery forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
