This locally distributed East African weaver inhabits dry thornveld and forages on the ground, mainly for seeds; it also eats insects.
Adult males and females are alike: light brown above, black-capped and black-tailed, and white below, with a white bill and red eyes.
It feeds mainly on grass seeds on the ground, sometimes taking insects such as grasshoppers. Non-breeding flocks may be nomadic.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
