An Andean bird of humid forests that sallies from a perch to catch invertebrates.
It has a black bill, a white eye-ring, white streaks on a dark head, an ochre throat and breast, and black-and-white streaking below.
From a low or mid-level perch it sallies for invertebrates on leaves and branches, and sometimes forages near army-ant swarms.
It occurs alone or in pairs and remains motionless on understory or mid-level perches for long periods.
The iris is cinnamon-coloured and the legs are dark.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
