This species is endemic to Puerto Rico's mountain forests. It often stays hidden in dense vegetation but forages in small mixed-species flocks.
It is gray-brown above, darker on the crown and face, with a white throat and faintly streaked pale underparts. Adults have a small white spot on the wing.
Groups of roughly four to six forage on insects, spiders, snails, small vertebrates, fruits, and seeds. Other birds join these mixed-species flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
