This bird has conspicuous white eyebrow and breast markings and lives in flocks in dry Acacia scrub of central-eastern Australia.
Its dark blackish-brown body has a long, broad white brow, a black mask through the eye, a white bib, and a white tail tip. The edge of the white bib is sharply defined.
It mainly inhabits dry Acacia scrub, especially mulga, with grassy understorey on sandy or stony plains and ridges. Flocks may reach about 20 birds. It feeds mostly on the ground and also gleans or probes trunks and branches for insects, spiders, and seeds.
It builds a spherical domed nest of twigs with a side entrance.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
